Homeward, Inc. has published a report entitled "Amenity Related Housing: A Development Tool for Rural Communities." Homeward embarked on this project after observing four rural trends in Iowa: building of homes on scattered multi-acre lots, increasing pressure to preserve agricultural land; declining populaitons and deteriorating main streets in small communities; and sluggish lot sales and home construction in rural community subdivisions.
This report details six subdivisions in Iowa. The data collection involved surveying residents, communicationg with the developers and gathering information from county assessors' records. The hope is that this information will promote further dialogue. To read the report, click on the PDF file indicator above right.
